PLANETARIUM MANNHEIM JOINS THE DIGISTAR COMMUNITY

Planetarium Mannheim, one of Germany’s largest and most prestigious centers for astronomy and public education, is preparing for a major transformation. The planetarium will soon offer a state-of-the-art experience powered by Digistar platform – the world’s most advanced planetarium software.

The renovation will include the integration of Digistar with VELVET projectors to deliver breathtakingly realistic visualizations, expanded educational capabilities, and new opportunities for immersive storytelling. With deep Unreal Engine integration, the Digistar system will allow visitors to explore the universe with unprecedented clarity, connecting disciplines such as astronomy, physics, chemistry, history, and mathematics in a dynamic and engaging way.

The facility, originally established in 1927 and reconstructed in 1984, currently welcomes nearly 150,000 visitors annually. Alongside the technological upgrade, the planetarium is also modernizing its projection system and visitor facilities to enhance the overall experience.

Planetarium Mannheim will also become part of the Digistar global community, gaining access to powerful collaboration tools like Digistar Cloud and Domecasting, enabling resource and content sharing among the world’s leading planetariums.
