Stars
Nightshade contains a database of 120.000 stars starting from the brightest ones to those of 10th magnitude which appear, once selected by the user, while you go deeper and deeper in the cosmos. It is possible to define the number of the visible stars in the dome, just selecting the limiting magnitude. You can also visualize the names of each star, while the brightest will be displayed with their true color. Once selected, for each star some data will be visualized like: catalogue number, magnitude, distance in light years, etc.
As it is well known, our atmosphere introduces several defects to the stellar images, one is the flickering; with Nightshade software it is possible to simulate this phenomenon as well as you can set the light pollution effect to generate a starry night as seen from the big lit-up cities.
